Homeschool Academy Story
Long before the Good Shepherd Academy opened its doors, many homeschool families were
unsettled by the choices for in-person classes. They sought an educational environment where
the teachers and staff would model and affirm their Catholic faith. At the Good Shepherd
Academy, parents can be confident that the school offers families a shared vision focused on
the transcendent and eternal goal of heaven.
Elements of our faith are woven into school life.
For example, families attend Mass together on Fridays, and monthly virtues and saint feast days
are highlighted during morning assembly and celebrated with various activities. All faculty and
staff practice the beauty of the Catholic faith and live according to the teachings of the Catholic
Church.
The Good Shepherd Academy uses a classical approach to education that differs from other
in-person classes' standard public school model. The Catechesis of The Good Shepherd
program is offered to the younger children for hands-on faith formation. The program uses
hands-on materials to teach the children about the Bible and liturgy. Teachers at The Good
Shepherd Academy provide opportunities for interactive learning, which include classroom
discussions, science experiments, and individual or group presentations.
For those families desiring an alternative to online learning, in-person instruction at The Good
Shepherd Academy helps students stay more focused and accountable for their learning. At the
same time, The Good Shepherd Academy recognizes the role of parents as the primary
educators of their children and strives to support families’ homeschooling objectives. Teachers
are readily available to communicate with parents, answering questions and discussing their
children’s progress.
The Good Shepherd Academy works closely with homeschool families to
offer a curriculum that meets the unique needs and culture of these families. Homeschool
families assist in choosing curricula and organizing school events and activities.
Finally, at The Good Shepherd Academy, you will be welcomed by a community of
homeschooling families that will encourage you in your family’s journey to living a life centered
on Christ and his Church.
