The Student Council gives students a voice in the life of the school and teaches them the practice of self-government. Elected by their classmates, council members learn that leadership is service: listening well, speaking honestly, keeping commitments, and putting the good of the whole community ahead of personal recognition.
Officers and class representatives are elected each year. The council meets regularly under the guidance of its faculty advisor and supports school activities throughout the year. Members follow parliamentary procedure in proposing, debating, and voting on ideas, and then carry out what they decide. Along the way, students practice public speaking, planning, budgeting, and teamwork.
